Homes For Our Troops
After researching into the history of B-25 bombers and gaining a whole new level of appreciation for the 16 million men and women who served and the over 400,000 who sacrificed their lives fighting for our country in WWII, I decided that I wanted The Duck to serve a greater purpose -- I wanted to use it to help honor those who have sacrificed so greatly and bravely for our country.
With this in mind, I began looking into the organizations that benefit our soldiers and was proud to find that there are many. I was inspired as I read more about Homes For Our Troops (HFOT). This organization's mission is to build custom homes nationwide for Veterans who have suffered severe injuries—paralysis, amputations, brain damage—post 9/11. Since 2004, HFOT has built 222 specially adapted, mortgage-free homes for Veterans and their families.
Eager and honored to get involved, I have committed to donate 45% of the Duck’s sale proceeds to Homes For Our Troops. I have a deep respect for what they are doing and the needs they are helping to fulfill for injured veterans and their families. Please visit their website to see for yourself at www.HFOT.org.
American Aeronautical Foundation
I have been fortunate enough to become friends with the great people at the American Aeronautical Foundation in Camarillo California. The American Aeronautical Foundation was founded to "help preserve the aviation legacy of our World War II Veterans and the aircraft they flew". They operate and fly a B-25J named the "Executive Sweet" and also are restoring a C-47B. 5% of the sale proceeds will be donated to the AAF Group (www.aafgroup.org) to help them operate and maintain the 70+ year old B-25, to make the C-47 air worthy again, and continue honoring our Veterans.
